Storr snow and mist

I used Unison soft pastels from a royalty free reference photograph in Unsplash of the Scottish isle of Skye (by KB) The Old Man of Storr, a pointed rock formation and popular hiking destination, can be seen on the horizon. This photograph inspired me, not only for its beauty but for its challenges of the dark sky as it changes allowing slight shafts of sunlight shrinking onto the ground, and a foreground of water showing the ruggedness of nature. This is my first completed landscape as I primarily paint animals.
