Wildflowers on the Rio Grande

The inspiration was the cool mountain climate in Southern Colorado. The process of dark to light helped add depth to this piece. The River’s movement added to the vibrancy and aided in adding interest.
The river has many layers, first smooth, then added highlights, then smoothed out again only to add more highlights and finishing touches.
The background started with a Terry Ludwig dark palette and came in to the light with Sennelier.
