As I am very new to the pastel medium, this was my very first painting on a sanded substrate. I was inspired by a photograph from my trip to Hawaii many years ago, taken from the Kamehameha Highway near Haleiwa in O’ahu. The pacific blues of the sky rivaled the pastoral landscape and I was enamored with the way the sunshine peeked through the tall grasses.
