Man From Morocco
Inspiration: Firstly, a good friend of mine, who is an amateur photographer, and his wife traveled to Morocco and met this man. He looked scary but turned out to be very kind. After seeing the photo my friend had taken of him I was moved to paint him as well. Secondly, it gave me a chance to explore working on Canson Mi Teintes Board and to see how I need to fill out my soft pastel collection. And lastly, it gave me the chance to explore chiaroscuro, which I want to incorporate into my portraiture more.

Process: My process was pretty straight forward. I started with the eyes since they evoke the most feeling. Then I painted the nose, then the forehead and I took my time with the mouth since it was an important part of his expression. I finished with the clothing and head covering.
