The Grandkids
This was a commissioned portrait based on a series of photographs of these 3 children. They have an interesting story to tell. After living in an RV for two years, going from national park to national park, this brother and sister and their younger half sister have bonded in a unique way. Their love for each other is what I wanted to try to capture. Notably, the boy has Downs syndrome. I just delivered the portrait to their grandparents, who wanted it for their daughter as a Christmas present. I am proud enough of it to enter it into this contest. It was done on black Canson mi tientes touch paper with a variety of pastels. It was so intense a process, I wake up dreaming of painting it still. It was matted and framed 22 x 28. The grandparents seemed to really love it.
